The Canadian Art Song Project will present an exciting performance of new and old work celebrating Black Canadian composers. Repertoire will include songs by R. Nathaniel Dett and the public premiere of The Colour of Joy by Maria Thompson Corley, commissioned by Canadian Art Song Project with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

The Long Walk Home was commissioned by CASP in 2015 and premiered by baritone Geoffrey Sirett with the composer at the piano. A Winterreise for our time, Peter Tiefenbach’s A Long Walk Home sets James Ostime’s hilarious and often poignant cycle of a man’s one-night journey through the tribulations of finding love and himself in a technology-driven, chaotic world.
