Over the past several months Canadian Art Song Project has been rehearsing and recording with our collaborating artists for our next commercial audio release: Known to Dreamers. This recording focuses on the contributions of Black composers and writers in Canadian art song repertoire. Elliot Madore, Jonelle Sills and Measha Brueggergosman-Lee each join Steven Philcox in a broad range of songs including James Rolfe and André Alexis’ cycle Moths; Robert Fleming and Owen Dodson’s beloved song cycle The Confession Stone; the newly commissioned cycle entitled The Colour of Joy by composer Maria Thompson Corley with new poems by Corley, Christene Browne and Kanika Ambrose; and a selection of songs by the composer Larry Strachan.

Known to Dreamers, funded in part by the Canada Council for the Arts, will be released on the Centrediscs label for download and streaming only in February 2024.
We are still raising funds for this project and welcome your donations as we enter the final stretch.
