On Monday June 26, Canadian Bass-Baritone Gerald Finley gave the debut broadcast performance of Healey Willan’s unpublished song “The Garden of Passion” on BBC Radio 3 as part of the station’s weeklong celebration of Canadian art and music coinciding with Canada 150.
Finley has been a vocal supporter of CASP’s work in transcribing and editing the unpublished manuscripts of Willan’s song output. We are thrilled that his advocacy of art song has brought us together to promote one of Canada’s most recognized composers.

Much more news will be coming in the near future regarding CASP’s work with the Canadian Music Centre in publishing new edited scores of Healey Willan’s songs as well as future recordings of many of these and other songs.
