Conversations with CASP podcast: Dean Burry’s Sea Variations – a new commission for tenor and piano

As we anticipate the premiere of our latest commission, Steven Philcox sat down with composer Dean Burry and tenor Michael Colvin for a discussion about the new work and its inception.

Dean Burry is one of Canada’s most active composers, having written several chamber operas and other staged works over his early career. The commission of Sea Variations marks his first foray into the art song genre and brings together a creative team that has known each other for over two decades.

Be sure to have a listen to this wide-ranging conversation and brief musical analysis for a work that we are thrilled to present in May, 2019. Listen on Podomatic, Spotify, iTunes or Google Play.
